Folding, sliding and hinged doors with various fire resistant classifications
Fire doors are useful for slowing down the spread of a fire inside a building, thus diminishing property losses and avoiding injury or death for personnel. We manufacture the fire resistant folding doors at our own fabrication plant, while a subcontractor manufactures the sliding and hinged doors – in accordance with agreed upon dimensions and schedules, of course. All of our doors bearing fire resistance classifications have been properly tested by VTT, and fulfill the requirements set for fire doors by the authorities.
The sliding and hinged fire doors are available with fire resistance classifications of EI 30, EI 60, EI 90 ja EI 120, and the folding fire doors come with a classification of EI 30. The folding fire door looks just like our normal steel surfaced folding door, but it weighs more. For that reason its maximum size is 16.5’ x 16.5’. It is possible for you to get any of the fire doors with door opening machinery installed.
What is the fire resistance classification?
The code EI for fire resistance reflects the tightness and insulation quality of the door. The letter, E, for tightness, means that neither fire nor the gasses from the burning can get past the door. The letter, I for insulation denotes how fast, in minutes, the temperature will rise on the non-burning side of the door.
A classification of EI30 denotes that the door will resist the fire for 30 minutes with respect to tightness and insulation quality. Generally speaking, it is sufficient to have doors with a fire resistance classification of one-half that of the walls. For example, if the fire resistance classification of the walls is EI 60, then often the classification of EI 30 will be sufficient for the doors.
